                                                  Novelty Begins

Hi, I’m a girl who’s 24 years old with natural dark brown layered hair and hazel eyes. I’m in a straight jacket in a room where everything is dull. I’m sitting on this hard folded gray, metal chair. I am not alone in this room, there’s this man who looks like a detective and a school principle combined. He’s almost bald, a little gray and white hair and light brown eyes that you can see your reflection in. He looks very serious to me. I am angry right now; I want to punch him in the face. However, I’m not here because of my violence problem.

“Do you know why you’re here, Elizabeth?” He asked me.
“I’m telling you, it’s real! They’re real!” I yelled at him.
“No, they’re not! You’re making it all up!” He pressured me.
“I just can’t explain it…”

Hold up, this is not making sense for anyone. I’ll go back and explain how I got here. How long ago you’ve asked? Well, not so early such as when I was born. I’ll start from 5th grade where everything fell into place.

                                  …

My hair is simply a little lighter than dark brown. I am 12 years old in 5th grade. You’re probably wondering how I got held back. I can assure you that I’m no ordinary person. When I was five, I had problem understanding in kindergarten, so, my parents took two years to explain everything like talking, writing, and listening. So, that’s why I’m in 5th grade. I remember I was learning something in class. I believe we were learning about chemical rocks and minerals. We saw that if the chemicals reacted to the rock/mineral, then we know it’s different from the rest. After we were done, it was time to go home. When I was at my locker getting my coat –it is fall time so it’s really cold here- and I saw my crush and my boyfriend. His name is Tom; he has light brown hair and blue eyes. It was enough to fall in love with him. I waved at him and he waved me back. I felt happy with him.

“Are you going to call me tonight, Tom?” I asked.
“I’ll call after dinner, okay, Eliz?” Tom asked me.

That’s my nickname he gave me, I usually call him Tommy when we are alone –don’t worry, only play baseball alone. I quickly grabbed my backpack –it was black with wheels- and went out to my bus. When I got into the bus and everyone was on it, the bus started taking us home. While I was waiting to be home, I looked out the window and just watched the cars passed us by. I see something outside. I was quite confused, I saw…saw a girl who was running on the top of every car that was passing the bus. I just watched her, she did some cool tricks like if there’s a huge truck, and she would quickly jump so high into the sky, and comes down so suddenly. I laughed with her, the girl saw me, and she was surprised. I wondered why she looked like that. She came closer to me and she somehow phased through the bus. I moved towards to the end of the seat to give the girl room. I was surprised to see this happening and she sat down while observing me. I observed her also. I am amazed! You can see everything through her as if she’s invisible. I can see color very lightly and it’s like a ghost only invisible.

“You can see me?” The girl asked me.
“I can.” I responded carefully.
“Wow! You can hear and see me. My name is Tina and what’s yours?” Tina asked,
“Elizabeth.” I didn’t know what else to say.

I saw my house right through Tina, I got up once the bus stopped, and got off. Tina was following me as if she was a dog or something. I didn’t want to say anything out loud otherwise someone would be wondering why I’m talking to myself. I’m wondered if she can hear my thoughts. I decided to ask, the words.

“Can you hear my thoughts?” I thought.

I waited to hear her response; however, she didn’t, which means I was safe to think. After the bus was gone, I stopped on the porch of my house, and she was in front of me.

“Why are you following me?” I had to ask.
“In the Invisible world, no humans could see us until now.” Tina explained to me.
“Wait, us?” I asked.
“Well…there’s not just me, there are over a million Invisible people on Earth. You’re the first to see me.” Tina told me like she was explaining a story.
“Oh, my! That’s a lot! Is that a good thing for me to see you since I’m the first one?” I was thinking a question because it amazes me.
“You do realize this must be kept as a secret, Elizabeth?” Tina asked.

I felt like I was being controlled by her.

“Well, who’s going to believe I can see invisible people here?” I said trying to make a point.

I was getting my key to the door since my parents weren’t home because one is working and the other is picking up my brother and sisters. I’m the oldest of the family; although, I go to a different elementary school than what my brother and sisters go to. I finally opened the door and I was glad to feel the warm air coming out at me. I locked the door so a stranger wouldn’t come in. Tina phased through the door and I was a little freaked out the way she came in.

“Do you go through things all the time?” I wanted to ask that earlier.
“Well, of course. Otherwise, most of the humans would be uncomfortable, feeling strangers around.” Tina explained.
“Can I feel you? Can you move things around?” I asked.
“Well, yeah, you can feel me. Any human can feel us. Well, for moving things like telekinesis or floating a human.” Tina told me.
“Wait, that’s a magician trick!” I said in disbelief.
“No, we, the Invisible people, were playing around with magician. We love messing around with them.” Tina said.

I had no idea. I took off my coat, put my backpack down, and took off the sneakers. As I opened the door to go into the living room, I froze for a moment because I was seeing over twelve invisible people, and it was like a party here! I was surprisingly shocked to see this and I didn’t move a single muscle. Tina saw my reaction and she smiled at me like I was her best friend or something.

“Hey everyone, could you give this girl privacy?” Tina shouted out to Invisible people.

Everyone was completely gone, I was relieved, and I had no idea about what happened.

“Are they always everywhere?” I said as I was wondering.
“Not always.” Tina said.

The house was silent, completely. Usually, I would hear the Landry noise; however, it’s not on. I went to sit down on a (not very) dark green couch and sighed. Tina was observing me again only, she tilted her head, and I just watched her.

“What are you doing?” I wanted to know.
“I’m studying you.” Tina spoke.
“Why?” I asked.
“I’m trying to figure out why you’re different than other humans are…why can you see us now? I mean we don’t even have a legend or a prophecy.” Tina told me.
“Interesting. That, I would like to know. Do you believe in God?” I curiously asked.
“Well, yeah, I do believe in him. Why do you ask?” Tina asked.
“I could say that maybe God chose me to have the gift to see the invisible.” I explained.

Tina looked at me like I was sort of a genius and I was kind of confused why she was looking at me like that.

“You’ve got a point there, girl.” Tina spoke.
“Hey! Don’t call me girl!” I snapped at her.
“I can call you whatever I want. You got that, girl?” Tina told me.

I was surprised when she responded and I felt like was her slave. Tina looks around me, she even phased through me, and I shivered a little. Tina moved my arms up, I was mostly confused of what she was doing to me. I put my arms down because my arms were in pain.

“Hey! Put your arms back up.” Tina yelled at me.

I immediately put my arms up and Tina seemed to be impressed of me for some reason. Tina was looking in my hair for a strange reason and I felt like a patient at the doctor’s. While she was looking in my hair, I could hear the door slammed, and I freaked out!

“Oh, no! They’re home!” I panicked!

Tina snapped her fingers at me, I watched her, and she pointed at something.

“Pick up the remote and pretend you were bored of watching TV.” Tina demanded.

I went up to the remote, as my family came in, I sighed, and put down the remote. A tall woman with dark shiny black hair with dark brown eyes. That’s my mom and she saw me turning the remote away.

“How was your day, Elizabeth?” Mom asked.
“It…it was okay. I’ve got a hundred again on my spelling test.” I covered up the weirdness I just had.
“Oh, well, that’s great to hear!” Mom said with happiness.

I’m the opposite of my mom. Everyone believes she’s the perfect example to the world because she never got in trouble in her whole life. I mean the only time I get in trouble is if I purposely failed the test for my own reason. Don’t ask me why, I did it was a long time ago I can tell you that for sure.

“Yeah…not really. I may be smarter than my whole class; although, I would like to be challenge more often.” I said it with sarcasm to mom.
“Someday, you’ll understand why grades are important, Elizabeth.” Mom told me.

I tried to ignore her and rolled m eyes with disbelief. I just walked away to go upstairs to my bedroom. My door is natural wood and it’s all thanks to mom! You could hear how much she would love to live in a log cabin house. I just wish to be somewhere else. Enough said, Tina is still with me, and she still won’t get it.

“Why are you following me?!” I spoke with frustrations.
“You’re an interesting person for a human.” Tina told me.
“Thanks?” I was confused.
“What’s your problem anyway?” Tina asked me.
“This is all too much! What’s the point for me to see you invisible people? There must be a destiny to see you guys for a logical reason! Why do I have to be responsible for it?” I said with hopelessness.

I start to cry in doubt; Tina saw that I had feelings. I just sat down on my bed.

“You don’t have friends, do you?” Tina curiously asked.
“Well, I do. They just talk to me when they want to. Not when I want to.” I mentioned.
“Oh, they’re not your friends. A true friend would listen to you and talk to you anytime.” Tina explained.
“They’re not?” I was afraid to hear the truth.
“No, they’re not. I’ll be your friend, if you want.” Tina announced to me.
“Really? Hey, ho w do I know to trust you?” I asked her.
“Hey, I’m the one who’s following and thinks you’re quite interesting.” Tina said.

I couldn’t respond to what she said. I tilted my head to study her normal pale skin and her frizzy light-dark blonde. Her eyes, changed everywhere she went because of the background. Tina just stood there smiling at me.

“Hey, have you heard?!” Someone shouted.

Tina looked up ahead of my head, I turned around to see who was at my window, and it’s a completely different invisible person. It was a male in case you’re wondering. He has the long hippy hair style of red hair and his skin is a mixture of pale and fair.

“What’s happening now?” Tina asked him.
“Someone is going to be stealing food from the Tops store! Let’s go! Hey, why is she looking at me like she can see me?” He suddenly asked.
“She’s my pet. She somehow developed ability to see, hear, and feel us.” Tina sounded like she’s protecting me.

I had no idea why she was protecting me; however, for some reasons, I do NOT want to know.

“Oh, what’s her name?” He asked.
“Girl.” Tina said.
“Why?” He asked again.
“Because she’s a girl and it’s simpler for me to remember.” Tina explained.
“Okay…just keep her on a short leash when taking her to places otherwise…she’ll end up in…you know.” He tried to avoid saying something so I won’t be terrified.

I gulped when he finished talking to Tina. He finally left. I looked at Tina as if I was worrying. Tina snapped her fingers, an invisible collar and a short leash appeared, and I didn’t think that invisible male meant it literally. Tina putted a collar on me and hooked me up to the leash. Tina held onto me as if I was 20lbs like a backpack. Tina and I were actually gone through my bedroom wall. I screamed as I realized I wasn’t harmed. I sighed, looked down, and I saw we were 50 feet away from the ground! I did not believe this! We’re on the roof of TOPS. You can see everything. I’m not the only person watching the place is getting robbed. There was like over a hundred invisible people watching humans’ lives in stake! I saw a man running with a cart full of food. I felt terrible by just standing as a sideline! The man had a gun, he just killed two police officers, one toddler, and a couple gay people. I was crying because that man hurt those innocent people. I tried to move off the roof; however, I was stuck on a leash. Tina saw my reaction, my hands were in a fist, and my face of anger.

“Whoa! Slow down there, girl!” Tina tried to calm me down.
“How can you let those people die? That man deserves to be punished for doing that!” I spoke with anger.
“You care for them, don’t you?” She calmly said.
“Yes, I do care for them!” I cried for the innocent people.
“Wow, you have such passion for others.” She said.
“I do not want anyone to see us in danger of our lives. Someday, I’ll protect them. I don’t know how, but I will.” I spoke like a heroic person would do.

Tina is amazed, she took me home, and I went straight to my homework, quietly. I couldn’t stop thinking of those innocent lives. I began to ask myself.

`What could have I done? Can I save lives?...How am I supposes to start?...Will Tina let me do it for my own reason?...Do I need to be in a costume to protect those people?...Can I do it?` I thought of everything else.

I was done with homework about 20 minutes ago. I looked at the time and it showed, 8:26 PM, and I couldn’t believed how time got away from me. Anyway, I went into the bathroom to take a nice, hot, shower for 12 minutes. The reason I take it for that long is that I believe wasting Earth water would be problem for global warming. Tina gave me privacy and I was glad she was respecting me as I respect her. While in the shower, I was refreshing my memory at TOPS today. I knew it would have been on the news today’s accident. My thoughts never let anything go because I have one of those genius’s brain. I know why I have such a big brain, because four generations ago, my great-great-great-great grandfather was a genius, a quiet non-famous genius. Everyone in my family said that I was exactly like him. He was known as Grandpa Brain. No one knew I was going to be the next generation-to-be-genius. Sometimes, I could never let it go because of Grandpa Brain.
Enough said, I was getting out of the shower, drying up, and into my warm pajamas. I do not dry my hair with the hairdryer so I just brush my hair out. I returned to my room, I play this music, and it was favorite singer. The singer was Hilary Duff, I’m listening to the song called, “Where Did I Go Right?” I feel the exact opposite like something worse is going to happen. Tina returned to me, she listened to the song, and she’s enjoying the music. I’m reading my book.

“I like that music, what’s it called?” Tina interested to ask.
“`Where Did I Go Right` by Hilary Duff.” I responded.
“How long has the music been out for?” She asked.
“It was released this year.” I answered.
“Oh, so it’s the beginning of popular songs, right?” She spoke like she was studying it.
“Yep, that’s why I’m listening to it.” I spoke sarcastic.

Tina didn’t notice my sarcasm because she was focusing on the music. I looked at Tina, the way she was acting to the music was like she was addicted to drugs or hobbies. I observed her body, face, hair, and lastly, her eyes. Her eyes have to be most interesting because everywhere she goes, her eyes were changing to the same color background. Yet, it never ceased me. Tina saw I was looking at her.

“What is it, girl?” Tina curiously asked.

I hated to be called girl especially since it sounded as peppy as my mom. It was too weird.

“Nothing.” I couldn’t think of anything else to say.
“Well, I think we should get to sleep.” Tina suggested.

I nodded to her, still, I obeyed her at every command like she knew my weaknesses somehow. I grabbed my large, soft, purple, shiny blanket and my bear. I laid down my head, held the bear, and covered myself up. I fell asleep soundly like a baby. My dreams were filled of scientific theories. I only dream science and hero (super heroes if you’re wondering) because that was the only thing I have in my subconscious dream.
The night was dark enough to sleep in, not a single sound not even a mouse, and I dreamt away.

:iconccrystal14:
'I waved at him and he waved me back' should be 'he waved back or he waved back to me.' 'Tina saw that I had feelings' should be 'Tina saw that I had these feelings.'

'He’s finally left' should be 'he finally left.'

'I was getting my key to the door since my parents weren’t home because one is working and the other is picking up my brother and sisters.' This is a run-on sentence. It should be 'I was getting my key to the door because my parents weren't home. One was working and the other was picking up my brother and sisters.'

“Are you going to call me tonight, Tom?” I asked.
“I’ll call after dinner, okay, Eliz?” Tom asked me.
You don't need to mention Tom's name twice in the same general paragraph. And although he does ask her, putting asked so close to each other makes it sound repettitive.
"Are you going to call me tonight, Tom?" I asked
"I'll call after dinner, ok Eliz?" he said.
And technically 'he said' doesn't need to be in there either.

Ok here, you used Tina four times. All you really need to do is say Tina once in the first sentence, then 'she' seeing as how this is written in first - person. There was a typo in how. And the last sentence should be "Hey, I'm the one who's following you around and thinks that you're quite interesting!" It doesn't really need the exclimation point though...

Most of this really isn't bad seeing as how the point is still brought the point across. And this story is really, really good! Your grammar has really been getting better, and I can't wait for the next chapter! ^^

i dont think i got an alert saying you posted this...
also, one tip is to add a bit of detail in other points, like when the characters are talking, you could say how they were saying it, were they nervous, calm, etc, or what they were doing, fidgeting, sighing in relief, rolling their eyes, etc.
